What is SLIDECASTER?
SLIDECASTER is a live slideshow software for mac or windows. The software allows you to choose a folder of images and it will display those photos in a random order for 6 seconds each. If you add a new image to that folder, either by dragging the image in or having it wirelessly transmit to it, the newest photo will appear 1st before entering the random loop of photos SLIDECASTER doesn't have controls currently for transition options or controlling length of display for each photo, but it is extremely stable.
SLIDECASTER offers something no other live slideshow software does: remote control with features for hiding a photo from the slideshow and controlling how many images appear in the loop. When you connect the remote on your iPhone with SLIDECASTER, you never have to you back to your computer until the end of the event. A photographer's dream! And, who wants photos from 3 hours prior to appear in the live slideshow? With the pro version, you can choose to display 10, 20, 30, etc of the newest photos..and you can change this amount throughout the event!
How much does SLIDECASTER cost?
SLIDECASTER subscription is very inexpensive. Only $10 for 1 month or $60 for the year! The Remote App is 100% free! Get a 7 Day FREE Trial with the annual subscription!
How SLIDECASTER Software Works:
Step #1 - Download & Install SLIDECASTER for Mac or Windows using the downloads link.
Step #3 - Select a "hot folder" where your photos will be placed for broadcasting on the big screen. Creating one on your desktop, that's easily accessible, will make accessing your recent photos more convenient. Or if you are using a folder with images from before, simply make that your "hot folder."
Step #4 - Press "START" from the SLIDECASTER software on your desktop. This begins the slideshow in a separate window. Step #4a - Drag this window to your connected projector or display network (if you have it set up to not "mirror" your screen). Then press the "Toggle Fullscreen" button to make the slideshow fill the entire display

What is SLIDECASTER Remote App?
SLIDECASTER offers something no other live slideshow software does: remote control with features for hiding a photo from the slideshow and controlling how many images appear in the loop (or control from your desktop). When you connect the remote on your iPhone with the pro version of SLIDECASTER, you never have to you back to your computer until the end of the event. A photographer's dream! And, who wants photos from 3 hours prior to appear in the live slideshow? With the pro version, you can choose to display 10, 20, 30, etc of the newest photos..and you can change this amount throughout the event!
How SLIDECASTER Remote App Works
(steps continued from above)
Step #5 - Download & Install SLIDECASTER Remote App on your Iphone. This is a free download. No iphone or ipad? You can still have the same features, just on your desktop software.
Step #6 - VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure your computer and iphone are on the same wifi network. This is extremely important for the communication of the two programs.
Step #6 - With your slideshow already running on your desktop, and your iphone & computer on the same wifi network, open SLIDECASTER Remote App on your iphone. And when it starts up, you will see this pop-up. Select "yes" to start the connection. Depending on your wifi connection, it may not connect right away, but it should within a few tries.
Step #7 - Once the remote connects, it will show your slides in your hot folder. The remote is set to show only 10 images at first. You can change it once you are connect.
SLIDECASTER Desktop and Remote Features
Feature #1 in Remote App: The ability to "Hide" photos throughout the slideshow. If you need to remove a photo from the slideshow, simply click the photo you want removed to see the larger image of it. Then press "Hide." This does not delete the photo from your computer...it hides it in a separate folder called "Slidecaster Removed." Just in case you removed it by accident or still want to save the bad or inappropriate photos for later. If you are using only the computer, the "Hide" feature isn't there because you can just remove the photo from the Hot Folder."
Feature #2 in Desktop Version and Remote App: Display Image Count. Instead of having photos show from the beginning of the party randomly, this feature lets you control how many of the new photos you want shown. Choose only 10 if you want a true live slideshow, but switch it to 30 if you need longer time to show slides. You can switch it on the fly (well, as long as you are in your wifi network range).
Feature #3 in Desktop Software: The ability to select how long you want the images to display (from 1-30 seconds).
